According to racers, the night after the finish is the night of the most wonderful dreams. It’s just you hardly see any of them. A banquette and meeting with the old friends takes all from you. Some of the Ukraine Trophy competitors celebrates the end of the race while the others were still struggling to reach the camp near Shatsk. Many of them made the finish in the dead of night. It affected the time the winners were announced. It is impossible to state the scores unless all starters have finished.
A generator powers the judges’ tent all night. The scores are thoroughly processed with a software. Those wearing red T-shirts can only dream of a bed. They don’t have time for a sleep.
And now the sun was ready to take it usual check point – zenith and the judges’ team began to announce the 2011 Ukraine Trophy scores. The competitors approached the stage in their off-road cars making a Drive of Fame to honour those who made the finish despite any difficulties. Many of them did it for fun. Newcomers did not think they got any shot at all. It was important to them to discover the capacity of their cars and their ability to survive in the wild for so long.
- The race is really great! Lots of drive and lots of joy! – say Oleh Filatov, a member of crew 717. – It’s my first time here. My friends call regularly to check on me. I here all the time from them ‘What makes you bog?’ ‘I understand that a lot of them would like to be in my shoes.
- You can not confuse this feeling with anything else. All are pulled together by the single idea and you just can’t miss the joy, – shares her feelings Tetyana Yemets (crew number 720). – We ranked top five stirring up our interest in the event. We are striving for a prize next time for sure!
It will be observed that the TR-2 and TR-3 winners (Tsyplakov-Mayboroda and Yanukovych-Karbovskyy, respectively) contributed their cash awards constituting 30k hryvnyas each to the Shatsk national nature park.
This is only one of many examples of social liability of the 2011 Ukraine Trophy. For will to victory – crew No 310 (Sorokin – Andrushyn) driving GAZ-69. As we said before, the award ceremony started before all the crews made the finish. Just like for this Odessa crew.
A hand of a friend – crew 313 (Samborskyy-Horbachenko) driving Nyva VAZ-2121. It was them who pulled everyone out of swamps and gave gas to all in distress.
The youngest crew – crew 03 (Yersh-Yersh) riding Kawasaki Brute Force 750 quad bikes.
For clean and high-quality route passage – crew 22 (Poznyak-Poznyak) riding BRP Outlander/BRP Renegade.
For the shortest time en route minus check points – crew 731 (Protasov-Protasova) driving Volkswagen Amarok.
For crossing a check point in the most beautiful way – crew 01 (Lytvynov-Novytskyy) riding SUZUKI KINGQUAD 750.
